About the speaker
David Root is director of the RNA Interference platform and The RNAi Consortium (TRC) at the Broad Institute. He and his team are engaged
in dozens of collaborations employing RNAi-based mammalian genetic screens for gene function discovery. In parallel, he is leading work by TRC to develop new RNAi screening strategies and methodologies and to design and produce lentiviral RNAi libraries.
Abstract
We are developing approaches to facilitate identification of genes involved in cancer and response to therapeutics, particularly by integrating RNAi with other genomic data, such as genetic analyses of human tumor samples. Our pooled lentiviral RNAi screening strategy permits very high-throughput screens for essential genes across many cancer cell lines and in the context of chemotherapeutic agents.
